My name is Julie. I started learning about the healing properties of stones during a very difficult time for me and my family. My husband was involved in a serious car accident in 2014, which left him with permanent physical and cognitive challenges. In a split second, our lives changed. Our two daughters had to deal with grieving the way their Dad used to be and I had to care for him and keep the family (and myself) together.
During the initial period that followed the accident, I dove further into my meditation and yoga practice as that seemed to be the only "me" time I had. In order to help focus my thoughts, I created my first mala. Fellow yogis noticed it and I started creating custom pieces for them.
In many ways, the accident was a wake up call. I realized that life can change quickly, without notice. I wanted to make every moment count. I wanted to spend more quality time with my family and accomplish work that had a direct and positive impact on people. So, in April 2017, I decided to put aside my office job and officially launch In Balance Jewelry.
A few months later, I started yoga teacher training. I began teaching shortly after receiving my 200-hour certification. I took this desire to be of service further and recently became a Coach. You can find out more about that on my Live Your Balance site. It has been quite the adventure so far and I’m thankful for each and every day.
In the summer of 2017, my younger daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I was so grateful for having a work schedule that was my own. It meant that I could be at the school for blood glucose readings and injections and be accessible whenever needed.
Giving back is important to me and I hope you will take a moment to visit my Giving Back page to read about the organization I chose to benefit from your purchases.
All the creations on my site are handmade by me using high quality semi-precious stones and crystals. I carefully select stones to capture the intentions of the wearer. I offer a number of designs here that have been shown to resonate with people but I am also happy to create custom pieces.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my site. xo
